Ancient Wisdom
Went out to dinner last night with a friend at one of my favorite places in the Mission called “Beretta”. At one point in the evening she quoted an old Rumi poem that she couldn’t get out of her head after a friend told it to her. I was so inspired by it that I decided to make it the title of my new blog, of which this is the first post…
The poem goes like this:
Darkness is your candle. Your boundaries are your quest. I can explain this, but it would break the glass cover on your heart, and there’s no fixing that…
Simple? Yes. But I could ruminate on just the first line and its significance for at least an hour before moving on to the second one. Ancient Wisdom in the modern age passed on in the most traditional way imaginable … through words while two people eat a meal together.
